There are tons of lore from GW1 that ties to humans in a scale incomparable to any other race. The vast majority of lore points or landmarks that relate back to GW1 had significant human influence on it. As someone who felt heavily invested in the characters and the lore from GW1, making human as my first character was an easy choice to make. Tallest human is still shorter then small norn. Norn also got better cultural heavy armor IMO, for both male and female. Male norn are almost always bulky, female can be bulky. Light armor = human female meta, for fashion reasons. With effort any race/gender/armor class can be made to look incredible though. 2.
Humans have a huge variety of names, but those in Kryta mostly have European first and last names, with many names being ones that might easily exist in any English-speaking country. Humans from other Tyrian nations (or their descendants) may have other names, such as East Asian names among Canthans and African/Middle-Eastern names among Elonians . Lore-wise: Certain races are more likely to flex martial muscle and become Warriors, specifically the Norn and Charr. Humans and Sylvari tend toward professions balanced between martial and magical skills (i.e. Guardian, Ranger, Mesmer), and Asura usually prefer magic (and Engineers) over physical prowess.
But alas, this is the game of names. Even names written in the standard “English alphabet” are pronounced differently/wrongly by native English speakers due to abnormal readings and obscure spellings. Fantasy names definitely bring about some of the worst offenses of mispronunciation.
